DAVID B MANUEL LITERARY AWARD: DEADLINE is June 20, 2017 at midnight.
Earn the distinguished David B Manuel Literary Award award to promote historical archival research projects about our founding fathers colonial heritage.
THE WORD SMITH:
David was a Double Day Editor and Naval Radar Specialist. His patriotism and skill inspired great passion to write the all time best-seller: THE LIGHT & THE GLORY with co author: Peter Marshall Jr.
On September 14/2015, the second annual award will be granted in two categories: Junior Writer and Senior Author.
“The Senior Author” award will be conferred for a published/distributed work that defines the war of 1812 and the inspirational merit of the Star Spangled Banner.
“The Junior Writer” award will be conferred for an essay of 200 words exactly, that defines the war of 1812 -14, or the Star Spangled Banner, or Grace Wisher, or Francis Scott Key, or “What the American Flag and Anthem mean to me”, and the inspirational merit of the Star Spangled Banner. Cited references must be footnoted. The age category is 7 to 18 years of age. It must be typed and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
All entries must be copied to the FORM BELOW, then also emailed to shelli@singitamerica or mail to arrive by deadline of June 20th at 759 CJC Hwy#272, Cohasset, MA 02025, and sent in hard copy or pdf copy on white background in courier new type face font in point size 11.5 with a one inch boarder all the way around. The top header must contain the title, subject, date, and name of entrant. The bottom footer must contain the page number on the far right and contact information of the entrant in the far left or center.
Subject, Content, Historical Accuracy, Sources, Literary Style, Grammer, Spelling and Spacing will be judged in elementary, secondary and college levels. A first, second and third place winner will be chosen in each category and honorable mention as well.
Subjects may be:
Star-Spangled Banner, National Anthem Bicentennial, What the Flag and Anthem mean to me, Francis Scott Key, or Grace Wisher.

2: HISTORY BEE:
Children K=6, will be asked to memorize questions/answers about the
War of 1812-14, and the history of the Star Spangled Banner and Francis Scott Key. You may start by writing an essay of 500 words or less about those two topics, send your name, phone, address, age, and we will give you the study page. Send your answers to us by August 25th 2015 by hard copy or Sept 1st by pdf/email. Semi Finalists will compete in Baltimore on Sept 13th and the prize will be awarded in Washington on Sept 14 at a special ceremony. The three runner-up winners must travel at their own expense to Hyannis, MA and write by memory in their own unassisted handwriting on stage. TV cameras will film them live and the winner will be chosen. (This assures that the winner wrote it in long0hand cursive themselves.)
Entrants must pay the $18.14 fee. They must submit a jpeg or pdf of their work, scanned. And they must mail a hard copy to our address at least two weeks before the deadline. Pen should be used on a white background. A note from a teacher or parent must accompany this submission to verify the child has written it by themselves unassisted. They will be required to rewrite it all by memory and in their own hand unassisted on the platform June 24th 2017 in Hyannis, MA. A medal will be awarded to first, second and third prizes.

The title of the album is historical and comes directly from the last verse of the national anthem from 1812 and is confirmed as such by 2014 US Senate Historical Resolution #550.
