Francis Scott Key, a lawyer from from Annapolis, MD,   penned the first three verses of the Star Spangled Banner, while a captive prisoner upon a Brittish ship in the Baltimore Harbor during the battle of 1814. He wrote the poetic words, “by the dawn’s early light…”

But after being released, fell upon his knees in gratitude for his release and the sure freedom of his beloved nation, America.

Then he wrote the fourth verse:  It calls us Heaven’s Rescued Land. It assures us that In God Is Our Trust!

We will sing the first and the last verse every hour on the hour at the rally. Speakers will comment on the national heritage and American values in those verses.

From every background and cultural group, groups will perform the anthem, human flags will form, National Cowboy Church association will  perform on horseback, a delegation will salute us from Israel, motorcycle clubs will ride near the Veteran’s Memorial site, and Veterans will speak,

Bio of John Guandolo

John Guandolo, with Operation Restored Warrior (ORW), hit a personal wall of his own in 2006 after serving his country at senior levels of the FBI and as a Marine.

His experience has guided him as he seeks to help soldiers like himself.

ORW “collected a group of warriors to serve and heal other warriors,” Guandolo explained in this interview with The Daily Caller.

A non-profit that owns a ranch in Colorado, ORW aims to support veterans suffering from PTSD and suicidal tendencies. The program is a five-day retreat that helps them gain a new perspective and new beginning.

 In 2009, the program helped Guandolo himself, who graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1989. In this interview, Guandolo spoke of specific examples of men moving through the program, including one wounded warrior who “hadn’t laughed or smiled in two-and-a-half years.

BUT, We need millions of ordinary americans at home in each of their states, at their own town hall or State House Steps plaza, to show the world  that we are proud of our Star Spangled Banner, and we can sing it and do love it and want to keep it just the way it is for generations to come! Help us get a permit at each State House steps and front plaza of all 50 states! Fill out our form -> FIND YOUR STATE HOUSE AND INVITE YOUR GOVERNOR:  CLICK OPEN FORM The Rasmusen report   shows we need an EDUCATIONAL MOMENT to re inspire the current generation!   and Washington Post report that 15% of young Americans want to change it to an updated version. Various suggestions got serious votes on a recent White House Petition Website, such as  a modern pop singer’s song, and a patriotic favorite, America the Beautiful, and the  1960’s song: This Land is Your Land, This Land Is My Land. (Very nice pleasant tunes, but Not exactly what we might wish to sing in the wake of another Terrorist attack someday!) Lovely tunes but not as historical or inspirational, on the same level as our Star Spangled Banner! Our cameras on Flag Day in 2012 at the begining of the Bicentennial of the War of 1812-14, found as high as 80% of the crowd did not know the words, and NONE of the children!!!  It  is actually an easy anthem to sing, for past generations that memorized songs, poems and historical speeches, but the internet games of today have replaced such serious educational moments. We need to teach them and create the joy and pride of former generations in their hearts too. It was put to the melogy of an old Englishmen’s Drinking pub/club, song that any ordinary man could sing, “Anachronym of Heaven”. It’s never been too hard to sing, that is why it became so popular in the 1800’s, replacing a folk tune that did not stir hearts to quite the same depth , Yankee Doodle Dandy.
